Equity Product Manager

The Strategic Product Management Group (SPG) mission is to translate our asset management capabilities into a comprehensive product strategy rooted in the firm's strategic growth plans. The SPG works collaboratively with portfolio management and distribution to ensure products are effectively managed through the product life cycle. We are seeking results-driven investment professionals who will play critical roles in commercialization of our core asset management capabilities.
The Equity Product Manager is a capability expert who develops and manages comprehensive product plans that yield profitable growth. Responsibilities lie in 4 broad areas: (1) competitive landscape assessment; (2) product positioning, messaging and pricing; (3) go-to-market action plans (4) product innovation
The key responsibilities of the role include:
Analyze market and industry trends to inform product development and commercialization efforts.
Identify product competitive sets/peers and the key Northern Trust product value drivers that are differentiators relative to the competition.
Develop internal assessment approach, mapping existing products to stages of the product lifecycle, to aid in identification of gaps and establishment of product development priorities. Recommend repositioning or elimination of products as needed to enhance commercial performance.
Assess investment performance and product commercial viability throughout the product life cycle.
Develop product line plans that support and align with strategic priorities. Contemplate multiple avenues for scalable growth.
Drive business case development for product innovation cleared through product governance and vetting structures.
Champion product line profitability and evolve pricing and expense management strategies to effectively manage the P&L.
Collaborate with distribution and investment manufacturing teams on annual sales and revenue targets.
Position and promote products in collaboration with Product Marketing with focus on content development for thought leadership and sales collateral.
Represent product in various internal and external forums.
Support sales/prospecting opportunities including product training.
Track and communicate progress.
Oversee product analysts.
The successful candidate will benefit from having:
Bachelor degree; MBA and/or CFA strongly preferred.
7-10 years of work experience in the investment management industry, with direct experience in investment product management.
Strong analytical and business management skills with an ability to translate broad strategic goals into specific and measurable action plans.
Strong oral and written communication skills, prior experience with product marketing collateral development is a plus.
Strong team orientation with solid negotiation skills and an ability to influence across disciplines and outside of reporting lines; an ability to lead virtual teams.
P&L management experience.
Experience developing junior staff.
Proficient with investment tool sets, project management software, Excel and Powerpoint.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
