Team Lead, Financial Control

The job involves working for Northern Trust Hedge Fund Services, a Global fund administrator, specializing in administering assets of complex hedge funds. The successful candidate will be an ambitious self-starter who has demonstrated the ability to function as an effective and strategic member in a dynamic, fast-paced and demanding environment. This individual will have a strong technical accounting background, experience working within the Financial Services industry and a proven track record of working well with and managing others.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Manage a team of 2-5 direct reports and guide their professional development
Perform final reviews of month end net asset valuation packages and various quarterly regulatory filings (i.e. Form PF, CPO-PQR, AIFMD, etc.)
Perform final reviews of year-end Financial Statements and act as a point of escalation with external auditors and client to ensure accuracy of each fund's annual reports
Act as escalation point for internal partners and external clients
Provide ongoing feedback and performance evaluations for both partners locally and internationally
Lead major technology initiatives focused on increasing the scalability of our process and providing solutions to client mandates
Partner with senior leadership to build a high performing team through learning, development, mentoring and recruiting
Lead Financial Control working groups responsible for executing strategic initiatives
Participate in recruitment efforts
Knowledge / Skills:
Ability to collaborate both internally and externally to manage a project from idea to implementation
Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and maintain accuracy
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Proficient in Microsoft Excel and other MS Office applications
Excellent analytical, organizational and problem-solving skills
Ability to work independently and cooperatively within a team environment
Client focused
A minimum of 4+ years' experience,with managerial experience
Experience with Investment Management and/or Financial Services;Hedge Fund specific a plus
CPA designation a plus
Bachelor's degree withemphasis in Accounting, Master's degree a plus
Big 4 public accountingexperience a plus

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
