Sr Analyst - BU/Financial Analysis

Global Service at Northern Trust is comprised of the operational and strategic shared services that support Northern Trust internal and external clients; and embody the values of service, integrity, and expertise of the firm. In this role, the ideal candidate will have strong analytical and communication skills and will be expected to work closely with the business unit executives, their leadership team, and the Corporate Shared Services Finance Team.
Duties include but are not limited to conducting and documenting complex financial analysis and management reporting for the global services business units, analyzing expenditures, researches variances, studying trends, compiling financial data, and providing financial reporting for the business unit, analyzing complex business transactions from a financial and an accounting perspective, consolidating financial reporting and translates complex financial data into thought provoking, informative, analysis, and providing strategic decision support analytics to practice executives. The ideal candidate exhibits leadership amongst peers and promotes successful and efficient work environment.
Major Duties
Analyze monthly and quarterly financial transactions for the global services; work with team to consolidate the practices into business unit financial reports. Articulate the effect of decisions on the P&L and FTE of the business unit. Present and communicates the underlying assumptions and financial impacts of financial decisions to global services executives and senior management
Provide information to management by assembling and summarizing data; preparing reports; making presentations of findings, analyzes, and recommendations to global services executives
Responsible for working with external third party vendors and internal parties to analyze financial impact of negotiated contracts
Understand the base cash assumptions of requests for the company's capital and translate into discounted cash flows to inform approval decisions
Develop financial modeling and analysis for global services capital and expense projects globally; understands the US GAAP/IFRS direct expense impact and cash basis impacts of the analysis and can articulate those options to senior management
Develop strategic location tracking and modeling to articulate the impact of location driven decisions on cost and human capital footprint; develop strategic location multiyear forecast for global services
Partners with corporate controllership and accounting policy to ensure analysis comply with generally accepted accounting principles and internal controls
Assist in the management and execution of due diligence processes
Performs the duties required independently and supports internal global services partners directly

Skills & Qualifications
Undergraduate degree in Finance, Accounting, or Economics
CPA/MBA or similar advanced degree preferred.
7 or more years of experience, with an emphasis on financial planning and analysis experience
Experience presenting and communicating complex financial information to senior executives required
Experience with international financial analysis is preferred
Financial modeling experience and understanding of financial statement
Strong communication, analytical and data organization/ interpretation skills required
Proven ability to multi-task, work under pressure, and meet tight deadlines required
Attention to detail and accuracy is required
Superior skills with Microsoft Office applications (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook)

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
